4th Grade Writers

Module 3 focused on the American Revolution for 4th grade students. In Unit 1 they spent a lot of time learning background information about the American Revolution. Who was involved? When did it happen? Where did it take place? Why did a war happen? In Unit 2 students learned about the different perspectives in texts and literature they read in class. Depending on the perspective the writer/author had, it meant the text would have different opinions about the events. In Unit 3 students compiled everything they learned and took a stance. They had to write a broadside (a bulletin to share information back in the 1700s) to inform their classmates about why they should join the Patriot Cause (separate from Great Britain) or the Loyalist Cause (stay loyal to Great Britain and not separate).
