I want to open up a world of possibilities to our students. I want them to see that they can find what their really good at and become even better. I am a teacher because I love to share my love of learning with my students. I love to be a part of their journey as they grow and discover their strengths and interests, and develop areas where they are more challenged. The best part is after 27 years, I am still growing and learning right along with them!

Jenna Parker
Mr. Parker is the 5th grade band director for Stowe Elementary. This is year eleven with DMPS. The first nine years he was the Band/Orchestra director for Hoyt Middle School. He is starting year twenty four in education
Mr. Parker has taught music for Keota, Woodward-Granger, and Des Moines Christian Schools. In that time, many of his bands have been successful in the areas of concert, jazz and marching band. His highest accomplishments are winning a state jazz title and having his concert band perform as the class 2A representative at the Iowa Bandmasters Association convention.
Mr. Parker was born and raised in Ottumwa. He has traveled across the country and parts of Europe including Russia with a Christian based group, The Continental Brass and Singers. He resides in Waukee with his wife, Amanda and their two boys, Carson and Caleb who are 18 and 14. Mr. Parker also enjoys coaching baseball and spending time with his family

Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember and has led to many great experiences throughout my life. I enjoy sharing my passion and experiences with students in hopes of helping them find that joy in music or whatever they are passionate about (I know not everyone loves music – and that’s ok).

Stowe is like home to me! I lived in the neighborhood, my two daughters attended Stowe, I taught at Stowe and am now proud to lead Stowe. My hope and dream is that each student feels empowered to use their heart and mind to create a more peaceful and open-minded world and that they are filled with joy and wonder.
