Teaching Experience:
This is my first year as a classroom teacher. I student taught third and fourth grade in DMPS. I was also a long term sub in a fourth grade classroom, as well as a Title Reading and Math long term sub for kindergarten, first and second grades. Last year I taught first grade reading and math after school in Coralville, Iowa.

My hope and dream for my students is that they will feel a sense of belonging and community in order to take risks in their learning experiences.

Teaching Experience:
I have been with DMPS for 29 years.
I have been a classroom teacher for students in kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades. I have also supported students in reading, writing, and math as a Title 1/In-class Literacy Interventionist for grades K-3. In addition, I support 1st grade students in the Reading Recovery Program.

My hope and dream for my students is for them to become life long readers who read for enjoyment and to learn more about the world around them.

Teaching Experience:
I have worked for DMPS for 5 years. This is my 4th year working at Stowe, currently as a reading and math interventionist. Prior to living in Des Moines, I taught a private, research based children's music and movement program, Music Together, to children ages 0-5 and their caregivers.

My hope and dream is for my students to grow their curiosity and caring for each other and for learning to the limits of their abilities.

Biography

Education Experience:

I am originally from Dixon, IL.  Dixon is an hour east from the Quad Cities.  I attended Eastern Illinois University where I received a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education in 2008.  During the Spring and Summer of 2012, I attended Drake University where I earned my language arts and reading endorsements.

This is my first year with DMPS.  Prior to moving to Iowa, I taught for 3 years in a rural K-8 school district in Nelson, IL.  While there I taught 5/6 grades and 1/2 grades in combined classrooms.  After moving to Des Moines, I worked as an associate at Centennial Elementary School in Southeast Polk School District and subbed all around the metro.  Last year I taught first, second and third grades at New Horizons Academy

My hope and dreams for my students this year is for them to become natural inquirers who are willing to take risks to achieve their reading and math goals.
